26 Years Later

On the 26th of May I celebrated my 26th birthday with my amazing husband, Ben. We started the day off with renting a double kayak and taking it out on the East China Sea. It was overcast and a bit choppy on the water, but it was worth it. We took it out for about an hour (sorry no pictures!) and were almost to shore when the kayak tipped us and we had a little swim. :) It surprised us quite a bit, but we found out a bit later that there was a hole in it and it had been gathering water the whole time. Either way it was quite the adventure and a good time!

After we got our water logged selves home we got ourselves all cleaned up and headed to Kadena AF base. We had lunch at Chiles and while there Ben told the waiter (amidst my protesting) that it was my birthday. They proceeded to sing to me and then brought me a special dessert. It was quite nice (the dessert that is ;)) and we were very full when we left. We did a few errands and then headed back home. The rest of the day was pretty relaxing, but we did get to enjoy some treats later on. We made homemade Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and a chocolate cake in celebration for my birthday.

Everything was wonderful and I am thankful for the chance to have talked to my family (on both sides) during the course of the day. Sunday nights at church they always ask who has birthdays and anniversaries and then sing to them as a group. Ben wasn't there due to work to tell them, but a new friend of mine decided to share. :) It was a great weekend!

My birthday gift from Ben...a very large George Foreman grill!! Something I've desired for a while.
We've used it once already and are enjoying it. :)
Ben's creativity with the candles that we had. The big 26!

So much smoke!! :) We weren't sure if the smoke alarm would go off or not. Thankfully not!
My incredible husband of 2 years.
